At first you'll likely end up with a lot of coasters. If your ideal goal was to record on your computer's hard drive, but to burn actual DVDs and watch the shows on your TV, you may be disappointed. There are custom settings, too, where you can tweak the settings to your heart's content. I'd recommend encoding different ways, different settings, other than just "High 90 Minuter", don't be afraid of a little trial and error. Wouldn't EyeTV's User's Manual have more direct information about this than we, in this forum, would? Instead of using EyeTV's own Help files, or Elgato's online resources, you said you're "new to this whole thing and have seached the forum".

It's also possible to export and burn discs in Toast, the information about how to do that is viewable in your instructions that came with the EyeTV software you purchased from ElGato. Next to that, it works really well with ElGato's "EyeHome" hardware and software. It's organized beautifully to work that way. that's a 150 minute (2 1/2 hour) recording.ĮyeTV's content IS primarily meant to be played on the computer. Because that's not a 90 minute (1 1/2 hour) recording. "2 1/2 hour recording won't reencode down to a size that will fit on a single sided DVD-R." So far all I have are Baseball playoff games on my HD that I can't watch anywhere but my computer without going through an aparent conversion process.Įdited 1 time(s). Anyone know the default file format and how I can use it? Anyone.

I'm lost on this one and can't find any answers to my questions. There are file/format conversion options in the EyeTV software, but I thought one of the advantages was the hardware encoding so you didn't have to take the time to convert to another format that could be used by Toast, iMovie or IDVD. The software says that the setting will produce a DVD-compliant mpeg2 file. When I hit the Toast button, I can't do anything because the 2 1/2 hour recording won't reencode down to a size that will fit on a single sided DVD-R. But I can't get anything to work with the files except EyeTV. I have the combo set to record to High (90 minute) DVD encoding.

I'm new to this whole thing and have searched the forum, but could use some help. I just picked up a used Miglia Evolution TV PVR and have it coupled with the latest EyeTV software.
